But good news! A few of these “lost letters,” detailing Gabriel’s fall to the Urbat curse and his quest to seek revenge on the man responsible for his demise, have recently been “discovered” by the indomitable crew at Egmont USA, and are compiled here for your reading pleasure. For whatever reason, some of Gabriel’s letters were lost after translation and did not make it into that original book. Most of Gabriel’s letters were written during the thirteenth century, and later translated and compiled by an Orthodox priest in the eighteenth century. The book of letters ends just before Gabriel falls to the Urbat curse, leaving us to wonder what happened to him in the following years to turn him into the man he is today. We were first introduced to Gabriel in The Dark Divine when Grace recieves a book of ancient letters that Gabriel (a young monk at the time) wrote to his sister during the Crusades, detailing his search to know more about the Urbat. Haden’s choice is put to the test as the Skylords and a figure from his past arrive in Olympus Hills with a plan that could destroy all of the realms.Įmbracing her destiny as the Cypher, Daphne begins to understand the immense power of her musical ability to control the elements, but she must come to terms with her feelings for Haden and what she must sacrifice in order to protect him and her friends.īelieving the Key of Hades is the only thing that can stop the Underrealm Court from releasing the monstrous Keres on the mortal world, Haden, Daphne, and their friends set out to find the Key before Persephone’s Gate opens again on the spring equinox.īrother Gabriel, Daniel’s mentor and an ancient Urbat, plays an important role in The Lost Saint as well as the upcoming conclusion to the Dark Divine trilogy, The Savage Grace. Haden Lord, the disgraced Prince of the Underrealm, has chosen love over honor and will do everything in his power to protect Daphne Raines, the human girl he was supposed to bring to the Underrealm. (Thank you to EgmontUSA for providing me with a review copy.Fan-favorite author Bree Despain continues her modern-day romance trilogy inspired by the Greek myth of Persephone and Hades with this second book in her Into the Dark series. Because if you don't like it, send it my way, because I need my own hardcover copy to add to my bookshelf. I didn't love that.) I know that Bree Despain is working on a sequel, and I hope she is a fast writer because I'm not sure how long I can wait. (Except the death of a minor, yet still important character. The ending wrapped everything together perfectly. (Or at least she deserves to be.) I will definitely be getting more books by her when they're released. Bree Despain is sure to become a big name in YA paranormal.
The writing was dark, beautiful, and everything that the novel demanded. And the romance between Daniel and Grace is fantastic. He appears that way, but he desperately wants to change, which makes him all the more lovable. (Well, Grace's decisions ocasionally did, but not her good-girl-ness.) Daniel isn't your typical bad-boy. Grace is the classic good girl, but never to the point where she annoyed me. It's all you'll do, and all you'll think about. I could only put this down when forced to do so. It's fast-paced, darkly beautiful and romantic, and it constantly throws twists and turns at you. It's so hard to talk about the plot without giving anything away. The Dark Divine was breathtakingly amazing. Talk about a book that will grab you, make you fall for it, and won't let you go. But she may have to lay down the ultimate sacrifice to do it-her soul. and the cure that can save the ones she loves. Grace must discover the truth behind Jude and Daniel's dark secret. And when Daniel returns three years later, Grace can no longer deny her attraction to him, despite promising Jude she’ll stay away.Īs Grace gets closer to Daniel, her actions stir the ancient evil Daniel unleashed that horrific night. But she has no idea what a truly monstrous secret that night really held. Grace Divine, daughter of the local pastor, always knew something terrible happened the night Daniel Kalbi disappeared-the night she found her brother Jude collapsed on the porch, covered in blood. why did you come back? Why now, after all this time?” I kicked the gravel a couple of times and worked up my courage again. Daniel had that way about him that could shut me down in an instant.
